Darna L Dufour is a Professor
of Anthropology and Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs in
the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of
Colorado, Boulder, USA. Her research interests have
focused on nutritional anthropology and energetics. She
has completed major research projects on the energetics of
subsistence horticulture in the Amazon Basin and the
problems associated with bitter cassava as a dietary
staple. Current research focuses on the under nutrition of
low SES urban women in Cali, Colombia. She has served two
terms as the Chair of the Department of Anthropology, at
the University of Colorado, Boulder, is a past President
of the Human Biology Association and the current Chair of
the Biological Anthropology Section of the American
Anthropological Association. In 2000 she co-edited the
reader Nutritional Anthropology: Biocultural
Perspectives on Food and Nutrition.
